A great man left us today
John-Paul II died today at 21.37 u.
Karol Woytila undoubtedly has put his mark on this era during his nearly 30-year long pontificate. I will remember him for two reasons:
- his contribution to the downfall of the Eastern Bloc;
- the inspiring way in which he carried his suffering.
May this fighter for freedom and life rest in peace.
Update 03/04/05: some remarkable reactions on the death of the pope:
- My Pope by Arthur Chrenkoff
- George W. Bush, president of the United States (the president has ordered that all flags will be flown at half staff in honor of the pope until after the funeral, which the president and the first lady will attend)
